About Our Programs
At AMIGA Montessori our programs focus on a home away from home environment where each child will feel secure knowing their physical and emotional needs will be met. Our programs recognise that the early years of a child’s life are among the most important and each day we continuously strive to encourage each child to attempt new and exciting challenges independently.
We have a balanced approach in classrooms to engage young minds with a blend of music and movement, art and crafts, Sports, Yoga and the opportunity to experience group lessons as well as the early education fundamentals and self-help skills they will need as they continue on to school.
Our 0 Weeks to 3 Year Old’s Program
At AMIGA Montessori our program for 6 Weeks to 3 Year old’s focuses on preparing the children for their future in the cycle one Montessori classroom. The room is set up in a similar manner to the other rooms with activities displayed and laid out in the Montessori way, encouraging the children to decide and independently choose what they would like to do.

Practical Life:
Practical life materials and exercises assist children to refine, develop and coordinate their movement. Children take part in ‘every day’ activities such as pouring, transferring, and sorting activities as well as food preparation, care of self (personal hygiene, dressing activities, grace and courtesy) and care of the environment (looking after the classroom, looking after the garden and pets).
Sensorial:
The sensorial materials provide a range of activities and exercises for children to experience attributes such as size, color, shape, dimension, weight, texture, sound and scent. These materials foster a sense of awareness of the environment around them. Furthermore it also enables the child to order, classify, and describe sensory impressions.
Mathematics:
In this area, materials are provided to show concepts such as numerical recognition, place value, quantities, addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. Through working with these materials children are able to internalize the concepts of numbers, quantities, symbols, sequences and operations.
Cultural:
The Montessori classroom may also include other materials and resources to cover cultural subjects, such as geography, science, biology, music, history, movement and art. Through presentation of activities within the cultural area children are encouraged to identify, name and classify the things around them.
Language:
Montessori language materials provide experiences to develop the use of a writing instrument and the basic skills of reading a written language. Children are encouraged to express their thoughts feelings and ideas through verbal and written communication. Basic skills in writing and reading are developed through the use of sandpaper letters (loose alphabet letters), and various presentations allowing children to link sounds and symbols.
The Montessori curriculum allows children to develop at their own pace and uses their capabilities and interest as the foundation of the program. The Montessori program is integrated with the Early Years Learning Framework to ensure each of the outcomes are achieved. We also incorporate music and movement, arts and crafts, sustainability and gardening, outdoor play and yoga.

Sustainability Program
Learning about the world around us is a significant part of the Montessori curriculum -the sustainability program aims to develop an awareness of protecting and sustaining our environment. The children are introduced to various topics which provide the children with a better understanding of the world around them and we aim to translate these topics into sustainable practices at the centre.
Read More About the Sustainability Program
Topics covered include the water cycle, seasonal gardening, reduce/reuse/recycle, minibeasts, animals and their habitats, composting, harvesting and many more. These topics are introduced to the children during circle time and are extended and expanded upon with specific hand-made Montessori materials which the children can utilise during the Montessori cycle. Each centre is equipped with vegetable patches, compost bins and worm farms as well as plenty of space for planting flowers, succulents and more! The children are responsible day to day in planting, watering and maintaining the gardens.
Yoga Program
YOGA offers children of all ages a wonderful opportunity to develop gross and fine motor skills, increase focus and concentration and learn breathing techniques for relaxation and increased emotional regulation. We encourage each child to develop a positive self-image, as well as encouraging social development through group play.
Read More About the Yoga Program
Each class will explore yoga through games, music, art, story telling and play. There is a complete absence of judgment and competition, doing a pose ‘perfectly’ or better than another is not the aim of yoga. This encouragement creates an environment where the children can just be themselves, relax and have FUN!
It’s easy to see why yoga has such a large attraction in a demanding and stressful world, it really is an all round go to for the body and mind as a whole. The mission of KIDS YOGA is to provide the tools for each child and family to live a FUN, HAPPY and HEALTHY LIFE
